poem: fleshy animals. and, namaste!

hey dave_on_the_lake--thanks for still reading!

I've been writing all year, but have really been very busy, especially as of recent times. With the help of God, my life will continue to take many beautiful and unexpected turns.

I hope to revive this blog now...I have lots of poetry waiting to post, and my future job as an English teacher will (hopefully) only continue to inspire this creative process.

fleshy animals

Grind in rhythm
And prance
In symmetrical metal
Smooth and shiny
All the while

Reciting speeches
Sounding off like
Well rehearsed
Sitcom shows

I, well I am
Disgusted
At my own misshapen body

My own failure of symmetry
Of my limp, and falter
Where I so completely
Show the wrong part of myself

Entirely

At my own awareness
Of my own
Lack of ignorance
Of my own
Embodiment—

I can only laugh:

When considering
My arms like
The crooked branches of the tree
Winter curling ugly around
Where I can fit so well

And when
My voice rises and falls
Bubbles and stirs
Like the broken voice
Of the wind and river

And when
I am an ill speckled deer
And I limp until I fade
So majestically into the dust
Of the ridden forest floor.
